Choose to be the Change the World Needs to See: Be the Light

The bible tells us that we are the light of the world. Light is defined as life, as seen in John 1:4, "In Him was life; and the life was the light of men." Believers who have faith through Him will have eternal life. It goes on to explain that people who choose to who walk in darkness do not have eternal life because they are unknown to God. How can any man know and accept Christ and continue to live in darkness? How can they continually choose evil and act contrary to the commands of God?

God, the Father, created man (humankind) in his image. He purposely created us to have unique and individual traits. He saw the beauty in diversity. We all have eyes, yet there is a myriad of eye colors: green, dark brown, blue, hazel, or gray. Just as pigmentation of the iris influences eye color, melanin is the determinant of skin color.

Furthermore, differences can even be seen in the use of our hands. There are right-handed, left-handed, and ambidextrous people. Yet, with all of our differences, we are more alike than not. According to Tom Clark in the article "Humans more similar than different," around 95% of all genetic variation exists within populations. Just 3 to 5% of variation occurs between different ones, the study finds. "When the world is such a fractious place, it's reassuring to think about our similarities," comments Lynn Jorde, a population geneticist at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

We are all members of one family and created on purpose. Yes, you a masterpiece created, chosen, and ordained by God. When you begin to see yourself through His eyes, you will understand who He has created you to be. You will value yourself. What happens to precious items of value? You love it, and you take care of it!

Let us not put our differences above God's GREATest commands. Matthew22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

When you honor those commands, it will make DOING right a priority. You will do so irrespective of political views, race, ethnicity, or other influencers that would have you acting in a manner that does not reflect Christ. Remember, you are to go and bring forth fruit. Are you demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit? Are non-believers being drawn to you because of your Godly character? I challenge you to become the light the world sees. Be the example of choosing good over evil, love over hate, and together we can change our world. We are in this together.
